Conference standouts celebrated in 2024 League2 Division awards
The third tier’s inaugural end-of-season awards saw 35 accolades distributed across five regional conferences.
The League2 Division end-of-season award recipients have been announced, recognizing the outstanding performers and All-Star teams from the League1 Ontario third-tier in 2024.
Two players led proceedings with three awards: Anthony Morano of Woodbridge Strikers B and Andrew Paolucci of Scrosoppi B. Both players were top scorers in the respective conferences, and picked up both the Forward of the Year and Most Valuable Player accolades.
The third men’s MVP was Adrian Panaite who had a very strong season with Alliance United B. Blue Devils B goalkeeper Astrid Hancocks and Woodbridge B forward Nyema Prentice-Whyte were the Southwest and Northeast Women’s League2 MVPs respectively, and were also honoured as the players of the year in their positions.
Sage Thomas-Roberts was also a double winner as her impact in front of goal for ProStars B earned her the Women’s Southwest Golden Boot and the conference’s Forward of the Year accolade.
Personnel from 2024 expansion clubs The Borough and Sudbury Cyclones won awards, as B teams from North Toronto, Guelph United, FC London, Vaughan Azzurri, and Hamilton United also picked up accolades.
The award winners and All-Star teams were determined by a culmination of factors: a list of nominees was submitted by each club for each category and a voting ballot took place across coaches and league staff. Those votes were then combined with points awarded to players who were selected by coaches as one of the ‘Three Stars’ of each match in the 2024 Men’s and Women’s League2 Division seasons.
