Toronto, ON – (September 30, 2024) – The next League1 Ontario expansion window is set to open October 1st, allowing soccer clubs to apply for a license to compete in the Men’s and Women’s League2 Divisions in 2026.

Applicants will be assessed on a comprehensive range of criteria, including aspects on the field, behind the scenes, and the digital and in-person experiences for fans and the community.

The first step of the application process involves clubs completing an NDA and an Expression of Interest Form which will go live tomorrow: Tuesday, October 1. Clubs will then receive an Application Package outlining more information about the process and what’s expected from League1 Ontario license holders.

Chris Keem, Operations Manager at League1 Ontario, said: “We’re excited to be opening our latest expansion window, especially following the record interest we saw from applicants for the 2024 season.

“With Canada set to co-host the 2026 FIFA World Cup, it’s a monumental time for soccer in this country. The world’s attention will be on us, with 48 nations competing on North American shores at the highest level of men’s soccer.

“There’s no better moment to make a significant impact in the Pro-Am game and contribute to elevating the soccer standards across Ontario as we look to expand into new communities.”
