League1 Players from the CF Montréal, Toronto FC, and Vancouver Whitecaps youth teams will represent Canada in Al Rayyan, Qatar.

Canada are in Group K and kick off their campaign against Uganda on Wednesday, November 5, before taking on France three days later. The third and final group game for Mike Vitulano’s side is against Chile on Tuesday, November 11.

Among the CANM17 players selected is Stefan Kapor, who started four matches for TFC Academy in the 2024 League1 Ontario Men’s Championship. Elijah Roche also had four games to his name in last year’s second tier, and scored in TFC Academy’s 8-1 win over Darby (now Whitby).

Antone Bossenberry also netted in that victory and has been called up for the U17 World Cup, as well as defender Richard Chukwu who featured once in League1 Ontario against St Catharines Roma Wolves alongside fellow starters Kapor, Roche, and Bossenberry.

Timothy Fortier played four Men’s Championship matches for TFC Academy last year and netted in a 2-2 tie with Windsor City.

The League1 Ontario graduates will be joined by Johnny Selemani, who signed for Whitecaps FC 2 in MLS NEXT Pro back in June. He has experience playing for Vancouver Whitecaps Academy in League1 BC, and so too does Yuma Tsuji who featured in the 2024 regular season and playoffs.

Tsuji featured in L1BC with fellow midfielder Sahil Deo, who has also been selected to represent Canada on the global stage in Qatar.

CF Montréal Academy players Josh-Duc Nteziryayo and Aghilas Sadek have both featured in Ligue1 Québec, with the latter joining the MLS side’s youth ranks from L1QC rivals CS Longueuil.

We wish the entire CANM17 squad good luck in their upcoming tournament. All of Canada’s matches at the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025™ will air live on TSN/RDS.
