League2 Division to kick off the L1ON regular season
The new third tier will be the first division to start play in 2024.
A midweek round of League2 Division action will kick off the League1 Ontario regular-season calendar, with games scheduled from Tuesday, April 23.
The League2 Division will see second teams from the Premier and Championship clubs, as well as first teams from expansion clubs, take to the field with potential to be promoted to the second tier. Teams in League2 can’t be relegated to the U20 Reserve League.
Women’s League2 Division to kick off season
Opening proceedings on the Tuesday night are Unionville Milliken 2 and Simcoe County Rovers 2 in the Women’s Northeast Conference, and on Wednesday, April 24, Vaughan Azzurri 2 face North Mississauga 2 at the same time as Master’s FA women’s first team make their L1ON debut against Darby 2.
The Women’s Southwest Conference kicks off on the Wednesday with Blue Devils 2 and FC London 2, moments before Guelph United 2 lock horns with Rush Canada 2.
St Catharines Roma Wolves first team take on Burlington on the Friday night, and ProStars host Scrosoppi on the Saturday in the final Women’s League2 game that week.
Men’s League2 Division starting a week later
St Catharines Roma Wolves 2 host the first Men’s League2 game on Monday, April 29, as they welcome BVB IA Waterloo 2 in the Southwest Conference.
Rush Canada’s men’s first team will also feature in this conference as they take on the second team of 2023 Premier Division regular-season winners Scrosoppi in their opening game.
Saturday, May 4 is a milestone day for both Sudbury Cyclones and The Borough FC who will play their inaugural league games. Sudbury host Alliance United 2 at James Jerome Sports Complex in the Northeast Conference, and The Borough take on North Toronto 2 in their home opener at Birchmount Stadium.
The final Men’s League2 game will take place on Monday, May 6 between Burlington 2 and Sigma 2 in the Central Conference.
