Premier Division stars represented in 2025 awards

Title winner Ally Rowe claims three individual awards as the end-of-season honours and All-Star teams are revealed.

The 2025 League1 Ontario awards saw Simcoe County Rovers striker Ally Rowe and Woodbridge Strikers midfielder Anthony Aromatario claim the MVP honours after helping their sides to title wins.

Rowe’s clinical finishing meant she finished the season with 24 goals in 16 games, which fired her to the top of the scoring charts and her team to the top of the league table. The forward featured in 2024’s All-Star Second XI and continued last year’s momentum into 2025 to help secure Simcoe’s first L1ON title.

In the Men’s Division, Aromatario dictated Woodbridge’s championship from midfield as they lifted the Premier Division trophy on the final day. After making the move from North Toronto ahead of the 2025 campaign, the 22-year-old had a summer to remember, chipping in with four goals of his own as the Strikers ended their long wait for L1ON silverware.

It was another competitive season for awards after so many impressive individual and team performances. The three finalists for each award, and the eventual winners and All-Star teams, were determined by a culmination of factors: lists of nominees were submitted by each club for each category, and a voting ballot took place across coaches and league staff. Those votes were then combined with points awarded to players who were selected by coaches as one of the “Three Stars” of each match in the 2025 Men’s and Women’s Premier Division season.

Women’s round-up

Simcoe were well represented throughout the awards this season, with Rowe sweeping up the Forward of the Year and Golden Boot prizes alongside her MVP honour. Her teammates Marilena Spagnolo, Bryanna Caldwell, Stefanie Young, and Teagan Handley were all nominated for awards in their respective positions, along with coach Zack Wilson, who was recognized as the Coach of the Year.

Elise Bell of North Toronto secured two accolades of her own, being named both Defender of the Year and Young Player of the Year as the Nitros finished in the runners-up spot. FC London ensured they will still be a Premier Division side in 2026 with a penalty shootout victory over Hamilton United, with Goalkeeper of the Year and All-Star GK Samantha St. Croix playing a pivotal role in their survival.

Emma Reda had a successful summer as NDC Ontario captain and claimed the Midfielder of the Year award, alongside a place in the All-Stars First XI and a nomination for MVP.

Men’s round-up

Woodbridge Strikers dominated this summer’s awards list with three players and the head coach picking up accolades; AnthonyAromatario was also named as the Midfielder of the Year alongside his MVP title.

With just 18 goals conceded all season, All-Star shot-stopper David Carano was named Goalkeeper of the Year for his performances between the sticks, with his trusted defender Carmine Fiore picking up the Defender of the Year trophy. Head coach Peter Pinizzotto was the tactician of their title win and won the Coach of the Year award to show for it, while Ronaldo Marshall’s 13 goals were enough to earn the Golden Boot.

Scrosoppi only needed another three points to make it back-to-back title wins, but still finished as runners-up behind a strong Strikers side. Nevertheless, midfielder Jacob Cabral was revealed as the Young Player of the Year, with his teammates Matthew Paiva, Tomasz Skublak, and head coach John Yacou all nominated for their respective awards.

Cyrus Rollocks found the back of the net 10 times for North Toronto and was named Forward of the Year for 2025.
