A 2-0 victory against conference rivals North Toronto saw the silverware awarded to the Strikers.

Olivia Pillitteri and an own goal helped Woodbridge Strikers see off North Toronto to win the 2025 Women’s U20 League Final, and their first of two trophies on a special Saturday for the club.

It was North Toronto who held the upper hand in the regular season, finishing two points ahead of their opponents in the Northeast Conference, but the Strikers secured victory when it mattered most to lift the trophy.

It was a tight and tense opening to the final, with both sides searching for a goal as the midfields battled for possession. One of the first opportunities came from a corner, as Woodbridge’s Alexis Cordeiro headed just over the crossbar in the 14th minute.

North Toronto enjoyed a spell of possession before the 25-minute mark, but it was Pillitteri who found the net from a tight angle to give Woodbridge a first-half lead. After a quick breakaway, the forward was played in behind and finished past Paisley Pennington with a cheeky toe-poke.

Woodbridge grew in confidence after the opening goal, and Jade Arruda’s header nearly found the back of net if not for a heroic save from the goalkeeper. The sides then headed into half-time with Woodbridge 1-0 ahead, as North Toronto were unable to convert a couple of chances before the break.

The second half was another closely fought one, and before the hour mark, substitute Maria Annibale failed to convert a huge chance for her side as North Toronto continued to search for an all-important equalizer.

In the last minute of the game, with the ball bouncing around in the box, Marisa Crane’s shot deflected off Myah Russell and found its way into the bottom corner to secure the title for Woodbridge.

After finishing below their opponents in the regular season, the Strikers made it count in front of goal to come out on top in the division’s final. Woodbridge’s men followed it up with a victory of their own in the Men’s U20 League Final a few hours later.
