Woodbridge Strikers turn attention to national stage following 2026 TELUS Canadian Championship Draw

Woodbridge Strikers SC learned their 2026 TELUS Canadian Championship matchup on Saturday, Jan. 17, as Canada Soccer conducted the official draw live from the OneSoccer studio.
The League1 Ontario champions were drawn against Canadian Premier League newcomers FC Supra du Québec, with the preliminary-round matchup scheduled to be played between May 5 and May 10.
For head coach Peter Pinizzotto, qualification represents both recognition and opportunity.
“It’s an honour to represent the club and the league, and it’s a great experience for the players,” said Pinizzotto. “It’s also a great opportunity to showcase some of our young players.”
The TELUS Canadian Championship offers Woodbridge a valuable chance to test themselves against professional opposition and gain experience at the highest domestic level.
“It’s a great opportunity for our players to see how we compete against professional players,” Pinizzotto added.
The competition has long served as a proving ground for League1 Canada clubs, providing exposure, development, and a chance to measure progress against professional standards. For Woodbridge, the focus remains on embracing the moment and representing the league with pride.
“Enjoy the experience,” Pinizzotto said. “I know we will get great support from the club and our fans.”
Additional match details will be confirmed in the coming months.
