Weekly Rewind: Double-headed success
Who took maximum points in the latest matchweek? Find out in our latest Weekly Rewind.

Double delight
Simcoe County Rovers ensured they remained at the top of the Women’s Premier heading into Matchweek 10, winning two from two this week. On Wednesday they enjoyed a 4-2 home victory over Waterloo United, before beating Guelph United 2-0 three days later. The league leaders now sit on 25 points with eight wins from ten.
NDC Ontario are hot on their heels, though, after they managed a perfect week too. Wednesday night saw them defeat Woodbridge Strikers 4-0, which saw the away side score two own goals. On Saturday, the defending champions were on the road when they beat North Toronto 2-0 thanks to Katherine Ozard and Melisa Kekic.
It was a mixed gameweek for Vaughan Azzurri, who have now slipped down to third place and sit four points off the top following two games of very different fortunes. They suffered a 5-0 defeat in midweek at the hands of North Toronto, before fighting back on Sunday to beat FC London 2-0.
Guelph beat London 1-0 in midweek thanks to an Olivia Brown goal, and on Thursday North Mississauga enjoyed a 2-1 home victory over Alliance United. Both were back in action on Saturday as North Mississauga lost 1-0 at the hands of Waterloo, and Alliance tied 1-1 with Woodbridge.
Woodbridge in prime position to strike
Alliance United’s lead at the top of the Men’s Premier has diminished after the matchweek’s action, with Woodbridge now just one point behind with three games in hand.
The current league leaders went without a win in Matchweek Nine after a 3-3 tie with Sigma on Thursday and a 2-1 defeat to defending champions Scrosoppi on Sunday. For Woodbridge, Isaiah Whittaker-Francis, Gianluca Condello, and Ronaldo Marshall gave them a 3-0 win over Burlington to put them within reach of top spot.
Oakville are also well within the title race as they only sit two points behind second, and also have three spare games on Alliance. They only played one match this week but made the most of it with a tense 3-2 victory over North Toronto. Adam Czerkawski and James Lima secured their first goals of the year to claim maximum points.
Following their tie with Alliance, and a 2-1 away win at London in Saturday’s solo game, Sigma have propelled themselves away from the foot of the table. London remain at the bottom, though, after their week started with a 2-0 defeat to Simcoe on Wednesday, and fellow-promoted side St Catharines Roma Wolves secured a huge 4-1 win over Scrosoppi on the same night.
To tie up action in the Men’s top tier, Burlington ensured St Catharines could not claim two wins from two in the gameweek when they won 2-0 on the road on Sunday. Elsewhere, Vaughan Azzurri and Simcoe played out a 1-1 tie.
Handling the pressure
It is still tight at the top of the Men’s Championship but Sudbury Cyclones ensured that they remain in pole position, winning their only game of the week against Windsor City. They took an early lead through a Stone Campbell own goal, before Musa Joof doubled their advantage five minutes later. Nicolas Fontecha’s goal was purely a consolation.
Behind them, Master’s FA made it a perfect week with maximum points. On Thursday, the now second-placed side won late against Whitby with Baldwin Igbinobaro scoring a brace in the 89th minute and injury time. Three days later, he scored again in a 3-0 win over Hamilton to take his side to within two points of top spot.

Another side who are in the hunt for promotion are The Borough, who began the week’s action on Wednesday with a 3-1 away win at North Mississauga. A Christian Keshishian brace helped his side to maximum points. On the same night, Pickering enjoyed a goal frenzy when they beat Unionville Milliken 5-1 in their second win of 2025.
Both sides were back in action on Saturday, but could not replicate their earlier victories, both tying 1-1, with The Borough playing Waterloo and Pickering hosting York United Academy.
Guelph United’s momentum in the top four continued after a 1-0 win at North Mississauga on Friday, and Unionville Milliken bounced back from their midweek defeat with a 3-1 win over Whitby on Sunday,
A mixed bag
There was movement up and down the Women’s Championship during the week, as nearly almost every day had at least one match.
The matchweek began on Tuesday and saw Oakville tie 1-1 with Rush Canada Academy. Both sides have struggled for consistency so far, so a win for either would have been important for their seasons. The latter remain second-bottom, though, while Oakville have 11 points at this stage and remain just outside the top five.
A day later, Scrosoppi were handed a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Hamilton United as the hosts claimed their first of two wins in the week. They later beat Unionville Milliken 4-1 to move into fifth. Scrosoppi put the defeat behind them and beat Pickering 4-2 on Saturday to end the gameweek at the top of the standings, ahead of their opponents.
Thursday saw one match when Unionville beat Whitby 1-0 away from home, a result they could not replicate two days later with that defeat to Scrosoppi. Whitby then turned the loss around to beat Burlington 3-2 thanks to goals from Tori Chia, Sarah McLeod, and Czaske Deane.
Five-star performance in L2
Rush Canada Academy continued their promotion push in the Men’s Central Conference on Thursday, travelling to Oakville and earning a huge 5-2 victory to move just one point off Burlington. A Harky Sahota brace, alongside goals from Gianluca Grubic, Krish Chavan, and Akira Rocco secured the points.
It was a less successful story for Railway City and Cambridge United in the Southwest Conference on Saturday as they were both handed defeats. The former were beaten at home by FC London, and Cambridge were handed a 2-0 defeat at the hands of St Catharines, ending their six-game win streak and losing top spot to their opponents.
In the Women’s Northeast Conference, Sudbury Cyclones claimed their third win of the season when they beat Scrosoppi on Saturday. On the same day, Master’s were defeated 6-1 by Woodbridge Strikers.
St Catharines enjoyed their Friday when they beat Burlington 3-1 in the Southwest Conference, but Cambridge United were handed a 4-2 defeat by Oakville a day later.
